At Ivy Tech State College Region 5, most of our sections are taught by
adjunct instructors. Because of this, our few full-timers are able to
pretty much choose whatever sections they want. If we ever do have a
conflict, our Division Chair (my boss) has first pick, then me, then our
other full-time faculty.
We have few conflicts since the Division and Program Chair positions are
mainly administrative ones with much less emphasis on classroom
instruction. For example, the Division Chair position only requires one
section per semester.
