I agree that 3rd and 4th graders should have different teachers for math and
reading. My 3rd grader goes to a different math teacher because she is in
the gifted program. However, I believe that the weaker students are the
ones that really need the better math teachers. My daughter has not had any
problems adjusting to having two different teachers. I am very glad that my
daughter has had this opportunity. I just wish that every student had the
same opportunity. My daughter loves math. She says that it is her favorite
subject. I know that a lot of this comes from home but if she did not have
a positive atmosphere at school she would not be quite excited about
mathematics. If we could take the weaker students and give them a positive
atmoshpere I believe it could make a real difference. I believe the weaker
students at all levels need the best teachers. Unfortunately this is not
usually the case.
