At many community colleges, teachers from the secondary schools teach
courses [as part-time, adjunct instructors, mostly in the evening]. This
thread on elementary schools causes me to wonder if anyone has reversed this
model:
Why not have community college faculty teaching in the K-12 systems? We
have the experience and the enthusiasm (that we think may be missing). Does
anyone know where this might happen?
Maybe we could volunteer as teacher aides, serve as consultants on school
curriculum committees, serve on school boards, ... We may already be
active with our "own" schools as parents -- why not be involved with all
of the local schools as experts in teaching.
I know, I know, there are not enough hours in the day to do all that we are
already attempting to do. No flames, please, it's just my $.02
