I read with interest your process. I am somewhat on the same path. Although
not completely there yet. It might help others who are not yet ready to
give that much responsibility to the students some idea of how you got to
the current state of your educational philosophy.

Did you have an epiphany or was it a gradual turning to something that works
for only you?

How does it transfer to others? Do other educators in you faculty work with
you and continue to be supportive of your efforts?

Have you looked at your students success over time? Do they perform as well
as the "traditionally" ,( if such a thing truely exists), educated. Do they
perform as well when they go on to a more traditional educator?

What readings would you recommend to assist others in moving in your direction?

What difference does a text book make?

Have you concidered the use of "performance" testing?

How does it effect the amount of curricula being taught?

How do you deal with "dysfunctional" groups?

I know there are a lot of question here. I am struggling with all of these
and more as I try to become a better mathematics educator whose work lasts
longer than three weeks after the class.

Sincerely,

Vern Kays
