I could do in Derive, I could do with my handheld TI-92. (Although I have
not actually compared the two in depth. :-) I would like to know if
anyone has found something Derive can do that the TI-92 couldn't. I would
assume the TI-92 would take longer to solve some things because of memory
constraints on the TI-92 compared to a PC. I'm not going to make it to the
Gettysburg conference. Any chance I can get a transcript of George
Dorner's talk via web or email? Also, George, I couldn't find
"TICalc.com". What were you referencing?

According to the TI web site (http://www.ti.com/calc/docs/faq/92faq028.htm),

"DERIVE - does the TI-92 have ALL of DERIVE's features?
The computer algebra software in the TI-92 is not DERIVE, in whole or part.
It was jointly developed by Texas Instruments and the authors of DERIVE. It
will do some things that DERIVE will not do and DERIVE will do some thing
the TI-92 will not do. Generally, however, it is a fully capable symbolic
manipulation package"

There are several sites that extend the built-in capabilities of the 92.
Check out the Derive web site at http://www.derive.com and follow the TI-92
links to the software library (or go directly to
http://www.derive.com/library.htm) to find the three suites of programs by
David R. Stoutemyer. These include programs to allow implicit plots which
another poster pointed out were implemented in Derive (about DOS version
3.0) but not on the 92. There are many other useful routines in this
collection.

Also, to make the 92 behave a lot like Derive, check out
http://www.cms.livjm.ac.uk/www/homepage/cmstetch/index.htm which is Terence
Etchells' home page. There you'll find some routines for the TI-92 that
duplicate several of the very useful Derive commands. These include some
that are very useful for manipulating matrices.

I think George was referring to ticalc.org where (if you go to the TI-92
section) there is a link to a site that discusses how to speed up the
TI-92. To go directly to the site, go to
http://cccsrv.trevano.ch/~blutz/TI92Spec/TIAccelerate.html
