hello group,
as chair of our academic standards committee, i have undertaken
the chore of gathering information on distance learning policies
as they have been articulated at other schools. we have no
definitive policy statement. several of us are concerned about
this as we see HUGE issues looming on the horizon as more and
more educators incorporate distance learning (in any of its many
guises) into their regular course structures.
from a most casual discussion at our meeting today, we have
identified these broad issues:
intellectual ownership
class size
content integrity
student performance integrity
work load/compensation
technology support
i would love to hear what formal policies you may have adopted on
your campuses. what have we left out? are there nonİissues?
who makes the policy? enforcement problems? i am eager to hear
any and all responses. i will be gathering and organizing your
gems for our next meeting at the end of march.
