Elementary & Middle Grades Teacher Education Course
June 14-18, 1999
Elementary: June 14-16, 1999
Middle: June 16-18, 1999

These "hands-on" short courses will focus on exploring elementary and middle
grades mathematics concepts using manipulatives and technology (TI-73,
TI-92, Math Explorer Plus, CBL, and CBR) to enhance the teaching and
learning of mathematics. Applications, problem solving, group learning,
pedagogy, implementation, and assessment issues will be discussed as part of
the courses. The Calculator-Based Ranger and Calculator-Based Laboratory
will be used to gather data for linking concepts from mathematics and
science. Instructional materials developed by the Ohio State University
Short Course program will be used. NOTE: These courses will share one
meeting day when topics appropriate for both levels are addressed.

Fees:
Elementary & Middle Grades: $125 (by 05/01/99); $150 (after 05/01/99)
Elementary or Middle Grades: $90 (by 05/01/99); $105(after 05/01/99)

Registration Includes:
-3 or 5 days of instruction
-Calculator and CBL/CBR loan for the duration of the short course
-Conference (includes daily lunch and two breaks) and instructional
materials
-Discounted prices on calculator/CBL/CBR

Graduate Credit:
3 quarter credits from Portland State University - $105 tuition required in
addition to workshop fees

Remarks:
Space is limited; applicants will be accepted upon receipt of the
registration fee. All registrants will receive confirmation and additional
short course information. Housing options are available at
http://www.dahlonega.org/. Atlanta Airport-Dahlonega shuttle service
information is available upon request.
