Ted,
When I go over an exam in class I sometimes have students take out a
sheet of paper and write complete sentences with comments about WHY they
missed various problem. I collect them immediately after we finish. It
is interesting how "on" a lot of responses are. I usually pick up a few
new insights too (eg. work schedules, misreading words, carelessness,
notation misunderstandings, etc). You also find out which students
can't write, or totally have other things on their mind.
