Does anyone currently offer an intermediate algebra course which is
based on examining a variety of problems from various fields. We are
beginning to put together a course which will be a terminal course in
math for students in non-transferable programs such as advertising
design, microcomputer applications, graphic arts, electrical engineering
technology, radio, etc.

These students have typically taken one traditional intermediate algebra
course to fulfill their math requirement. We think a more problem
oriented course, that examines real problems from a wide range of fields
and forces the students to analyze, synthesize and think more deeply
without as much traditional symbol manipulation.

Anyone with experience or ideas for such a course should send them
directly to me. Thanks in advance.
