I have taught a legally blind student in a liberal arts math course (sets, Venn
diagrams, truth
tables, etc.). The student was given a talking calculator by the Commission for
the Visually
Impaired (state run?). As for the notes, I prepared class notes using a product
called Puff
Paints. I would print the notes (minimal notes, of course, as it took a ratio
of 5+:1 of prepared
notes:lecture notes) and heat them to cause the paint to rise. The student had
gradually become
blind and was not trained, until shortly before the course, in the use of
Braille. She could
trace the notes to "see" them. It was hard work for both of us, but she
succeeded in the course
(C+ when she had prayed for a D).

I don't know if this helps, but perhaps it will give you some ideas.
