I'm a student in an on-line course being given through a state university.
Our last day of "class" is this Friday. Our final exam was supposed to be
available to us first thing Monday morning. It consists of 10 essay questions
and is 1/4 of our grade. The last exam to me an entire weekend to complete.
I've been trying to contact the exam site for the last three days and I just
got word (Wendesday night) that our exam is now accessible. The final is due
Friday! The dates that the final would be available to us have been listed
all semester.
The story (not that is really matters) is that there was a black out at the
college last week due to El Nino and the system was damaged. I could get
into every other part of the course though.
The teacher is talking about extending the last day of class........ I know
that he can't legally do this.
So, here's the question of the day:
Can the college still expect the students to complete the final exam?
Here's my answer (as an involved student):
My semester starts next week. I could have worked on the exam Monday and
Tuesday, but now I have school obligations and no time. I say that they can't
expect us to complete the exam under these circumstances. And I have one big
question..... Why didn't they just e-mail us the exam? I started nagging them
about the situation Monday morning (when I logged on the do the exam). (BTW,
I paid a wopping $540 for this class and there are only 4 students!)
