Some time ago we discussed experiences with a visually impaired student in
a math class. At that time several of you had some ideas/experiences with
such a student. I seem to recall someone relating an experience with a
student who used some sort of rubber pad to drawn graphs, audio recordings
of class lectures, etc.
I've been informed by our Disabilities Services Coordinator that I may have
a student with visual impairment in one of my Basic Algebra sections
starting next week. If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, or experiences
that could help, I'd love to hear about them.
FWIW, this class covers about what you'd expect in a developmental level
algebra course (equation solving, addition/subtraction/multiplication of
polynomials, factoring polynomials, graphing linear equations in two
variables, etc.). I'm most concerned about the graphing we do near the end
of the semester. I look forward to your responses!
thanks
Brad
