looking to expand our pool of item-writers in math for grades 4-8. I've
enclosed a job announcement and application detailing the subject areas and
grade levels we currently need. However, we will welcome applications in all
subject areas and grade levels. The application is at the end of this email.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Please note that these positions do NOT require successful candidates to
reside in/relocate to NJ. Compensation is based on a per item or per project
basis.
The following positions are available:
Mathematics Item-Writers (25-35 positions)
Elementary--Grades 4 and 5
Middle School--Grades 6-8
Mathematics Team Leaders (10-15 positions)
Mathematics Test Coordinators (3-4 positions)
Responsibilities:
Item-Writers are responsible for:
1. Writing original items that meets the specifications provided by DSA in a
timely manner.
2. Submitting items to their Team Leader.
3. Revising items as required by their Team Leader and others on the project
team.
Team Leaders are responsible for:
1. Assigning writers for their team the objectives and quantity of items
needed per objective (as per instructions received from their Test
Coordinator and/or Project Coordinator).
2. Editing items written for their team to be sure they meet the objective,
are mathematically accurate (including key), adhere to the style requirements
and specifications for their test and grade, are of appropriate difficulty
and are not offensive to any gender or ethnic group.
3. Submitting items for their team to their Test Coordinator.
4. Approving invoices for writers on their team and submitting them to their
Test Coordinator who will submit these to the Project Coordinator once all
items have been accounted for and checked for quality assurance.
The Test Coordinator(s) are responsible for:
1. Communicating with their Team Leaders regarding all project
specifications.
2. Responding to any questions that their Team Leaders have in regard to the
test content, format, objectives and/or specifications for this project.
3. Editing items written for the Team Leaders to be sure they meet the
objective, are mathematically accurate (including key), adhere to the style
requirements and specifications for their test and grade, are of appropriate
difficulty and are not offensive to any gender or ethnic group
4. Ensuring the quality control required to ensure that items are acceptable
and meet our client's specifications.
5. Responding to any issues that relate to math tests and standards for
their assigned tests and grade levels.
6. Submitting items (and invoices) for their team to the Project Coordinator
according to the delivery schedule required.
7. Reporting to the Project Coordinator and/or President on an ongoing basis
with respect to project progress and maintaining records regarding items
delivered and to be delivered.
8. Communicating with the client's Director of Math Standards and Assessment
as needed to clarify project specifications.
This individual(s) reports to the Project Coordinator and the President.
This individual(s) does not have authority to approve changes in schedule,
compensation, or other matters that must be approved by the Project
Coordinator and/or President.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for:
1. General supervision of the project.
2. Establishing an appropriate delivery schedule for each Team (subject to
approval of the President) that will meet our client's needs and expectations.
3. Ensuring that items are received in a timely manner and preparing them
for submission to the client.
4. Reporting to the President on an ongoing basis with respect to project
progress and maintaining records regarding items delivered and to be
delivered.
5. Submitting items for their team to DSA and/or client according to the
delivery schedule required.
6. Communicating with the President as needed regarding problems concerning
schedule or financial matters.
The Project Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring that the
project is completed successfully and on schedule whereas the Test
Coordinator(s) assume more responsibility in quality control and test
content/style related issues.
The individual(s) selected will be provided with test specs and other related
materials as needed. Items will be reviewed by our test specialists and we
will provide item-writers with appropriate training and feedback as needed.
All individuals will be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement before
beginning work on the project. Preference will be given to those teaching
(or who have recently taught) math and who have some training in writing test
items. However, student teachers and others working under supervision of a
certified teacher/mentor may also apply.
