I am a relative newcomer to this list so perhaps this question has
been asked and answered before. But here goes ...

We are trying to establish some guidelines for a statewide
assessment of general education mathematics preferably with heavy use of
technology. The specific areas of interest are PLACEMENT TESTING for
accurate placement into either remedial courses or our general education
courses which are Quantitative Literacy, Introduction to Statistics, or
College Algebra and ASSESSMENT of the learning outcomes from our general
education courses. I would be delighted to receive any information from
anyone doing all the right things, or having done some wrong things in
these areas that we can avoid if possible.

Rather than posting everything to the list --although I think some
others might be interested in summaries -- please email or slowmail them
directly to me. email -- Layle.Erickson@snow.edu slowmail -- Layle

Thanks for your help.
