[MATHEDCC] Multiple choice tests

I was happy to see multiple choice tests being (thoughtfully) defended. I logged
on to post something positive on the subject, and found others doing the same.

Even the criticisms include "mc can be a legitimate assessment device ... which has
only its ease of scoring to recommend it." Ease of scoring is a virtue, as long
as other legitimate testing goals are met.

I have used them for years in my self-paced course, on chapter tests. Cumulative
tests are open ended. I have found a good correlation between the scores on
both types of tests.

I think one thing is clear from several of the postings - it takes some work
to construct a good test, regardless of the format.
