I believe FirstClass is fairly useful for the situation you've
described.... It's basically a generic bulletin board system with an
intuitive (Macintosh-style) interface.
However, If you're interested in software specifically designed for
communication of math story problems, check into the SEEN-Math software
designed by Jeff Watt, a math ed professor at Indiana University - Purdue
University at Indianapolis. It's designed to have the students work
through a general problem-solving procedure based on Polya's four steps
for solving problems, and it includes software such as graphing tools for
Venn diagrams, a scientific calculator, and other nice features.
