[MATHEDCC] Message not deliverable

As a high school teacher, I don't think you have to be too concerned with
Algebra 1 as a disappearing course. The goals stated by NCTM and NSF are
indeed ideal, but until our elementary teachers and textbooks understand
where the math that they are teaching is going, change will be very slow. A
6th grade textbook(Heath) in our school gives finding the area of a square
a one page "special topic" designation. For many teachers. special topics are
not done. So, until many things change, I think Alg. 1 will remain as it is.
For the bright students, we are giving it in 8th and in some schools 7th
grade.
