Scientific Notebook is a very nice program but there are two
downsides to the use of Scientific Notebook:

1. To get the full functionality as described in the note below the
student has to buy the program.

2. The program is not available for Macintosh or Unix computers;
at my institution, all three platforms are used heavily by students.

Also, if you want to add interactivity to html pages, then you should
also look at MathView (from Maplesoft). This requires the use
of a free plug-in which is available for both Windows and Macintosh.
To see the capabilities of this, check the number of MathView
exercises which I have on

http://archives.math.utk.edu/visual.calculus/2/.

Best,
Larry
