COLLEGE OF MICRONESIA - FSM
The College of Micronesia-FSM is an accredited two-year college, with a third-year program for elementary education, serving students from the Federated States of Micronesia. COM-FSM is currently soliciting applications to establish an application pool for the following positions:
National Campus, Pohnpei: Director of Vocational Education, Cataloging Librarian, Technology/Special Education Instructor, Business/Computer Instructor, Computer Information Systems Instructor, Composition/Philosophy/Reading Instructor and Developmental Math position.
Chuuk Campus: Vocational Instructor (Tourism), and English Instructor.
Kosrae Campus: Vocational Instructor (Carpentry), Education Instructor and Agriculture/Science Instructor, Math/Computer Instructor,
Pohnpei Campus: Vocational Instructor (Electronics), Hotel/Restaurant Management Instructor
Yap Campus: Vocational Instructor (Construction Electricity), English/ESL Instructor and Career Counselor for Upward Bound Program.
Fisheries and Maritime Institute: Assistant Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Academic Instructors - Earned Master’s Degree in related field and at least two years experience teaching at the college level. Good interpersonal communications skills, cultural sensitivity a plus.
Vocational Instructors – Journeyman in occupational teaching area or related field and eight years of full time equivalent related occupational work experience or four years of full time teaching at the post secondary level.
SALARY: Tradesman range: $12,636 - $17,810 depending upon experience.
Master’s range: $16,146 - $17,810 depending upon experience.
BENEFITS: Recruitment benefits if hired off island include airfare for employee, spouse and children, shipment of household goods dependent upon size of the family, 200 lb. air freight and housing up to $600.00 US per month. Other benefits include subsidized medical and life insurance.
TAX INFORMATION: FSM Income Tax is 6% of income up to $11,000 and then 10% of anything beyond. FSM Social Security Tax is 6% of your income up to $180.00 per quarter.
Foreign Income Tax exemption for US citizens for income earned up to $70,000. Please contact the IRS for more information.
