I followed the link "Time Service Department" at http://www.usno.navy.mil/,
and did fairly quickly get the data about sunrise and sunset at Boston
Massachusetts for 1997.
It might take some word processing, and other manipulation, but it is
definitely a handy set of data.
Your said you are working on a function of minutes of daylight
to illustrate the sine curve. I can see some other questions in there,
as I'm sure you probably did too.
Model the sunrise times, or sunset times with a sine function (if it is one).
How do we know these are sine functions? (Guest lecturer from Physics?)
Anyway, a good data set, readily accessible.
