<Our school is currently reviewing the topics we cover in our 5 unit,
sophomore
<level discrete math course and our text. There has been a lot of discussion
<as to what topics should be included and at what level those topics should be
<taught.
<
<1) If your school is teaching this course could you please share what text
<you are using?
<
<2) Does anyone have any official documents from AMATYC (or MAA, etc) on what
<topics are appropriate (and expected) for this course?
<
<I've got my eye on Discrete and Combinatorics Mathematics by Grimaldi. It is
<the text I learned with, but I haven't heard back from Addison Wesley on
<whether it's still available. Anyone here using it?
<
To clarify:
Our discrete course is for math and computer majors. It's 5 units, sophomore
level with a prereq of Calculus 2 and covers topics in logic, combinatorics,
graph theory and abstract algebra.
