The Connected Mathematics Project's, _Ruins of Montarek_ (Addison-Wesley,
see also http://www.math.msu.edu/cmp/), is a month-long curriculum unit
written for middle grades students. However, any student who has not
studied spatial visualization could benefit from this work. As I said, most
American high school students have not studied spatial visualization, and
are very weak in this area. With high school students, the unit could
probably be done in less than a month.
Two researchers from Israel, David Ben-Chaim and Alex Friedlander, both of
the Weismann Institute, were involved on the Connected Mathematics writing
team, and could give you further information about _Ruins of Montarek_, and
whether it would be suitable for students who have been in the Israeli math
curriculum.
