I do not know the Israeli high school curriculum well enough to know if
this is appropriate for 10th and 11th graders in Tel Aviv. However, in the
U.S., most of our high school (and college) students would first need some
intensive spatial visualization work before doing anything formal with 3-D
geometry.

The Connected Mathematics Project's, _Ruins of Montarek_ (Addison-Wesley,
see also http://www.math.msu.edu/cmp/), is a month-long curriculum unit
written for middle grades students. However, any student who has not
studied spatial visualization could benefit from this work. As I said, most
American high school students have not studied spatial visualization, and
are very weak in this area. With high school students, the unit could
probably be done in less than a month.

Two researchers from Israel, David Ben-Chaim and Alex Friedlander, both of
the Weismann Institute, were involved on the Connected Mathematics writing
team, and could give you further information about _Ruins of Montarek_, and
whether it would be suitable for students who have been in the Israeli math
curriculum.
