Lillian,
A lady in Texas needed only a college algebra course to graduate. She had
been working for two years and was then required to complete her degree.
She went to several community colleges and tried to take a college algebra
course. They would not let her take it. They all required that she take
several other math courses before they would allow her to take the course
she wanted to take. She is now taking college algebra via a DL course here
and probably will pass since her study habits are going to be very good
with the kind of motivation she has. Her background in math is dismal but
she is now a grown woman and has motivation and self-discipline so her
background is of no importance at all. I suspect there are many students
like her.
