alternative scheduling

I'm new to the list so if this has been a hot topic lately, I appologise in
advance. I am interested in hearing from teachers who have taught under
a nontraditional setup. I am interested in hearing about block scheduling,
quarter and trimester systems and other types of systems. We are looking
at finding a better way offer our curriculum. What are the advantages and
disadvantages of your system? Would you recommend it to others? We currently
use a MWF 50 minute and TR 1:15 minutes college type schedule currently. We
are looking for a system that will allow more flexibility and more class time.
