MathType from Design Science is the program which is in MS Word, but
that is not the complete package. The complete one is available for
both Mac and PC platforms and will handle most any math type I have run
into. It does so by opening a separate window, building the equation or
expression, and automatically pasting in when you close the window.
This makes it a little awkward to put some things in the midst of a
sentence, but with practice it may be done.

The full MathType package is in NisusWriter, the word processor for the
Mac only which I use in protest against MS bloat. However, it doesn't
seem to be compatible with the newer and nifty GX printing technology
which I have just begun to use.
