I am going to have a busy summer with the committes I signed up for, so I hope
you can help on this topic as well.
We have been discussing a problem with the graduation requirement of a GPA of
2.0. A student with a C- average would not be able to graduate without
permission of the Academic Dean. We have been discussing changing the
requirement to 1.75. I have concerns about lowering requirements but I also
agree with the Dean that the students who have worked hard to overcome one bad
semester are caught by this requirement.
Weighting the first semester would help many of these students, but if the poor
grades come in one of the other three a weighting system would not help.
Since a 2.0 seems to be the normal graduation requirement, does anyone else run
into this problem? If so, what do you do?
Thanks,
Carol Lerch
