I wanted to let you know the final topics for the
Foundation/Developmental Math Network and Sharing session to be held in
Atlanta (Friday, 5:30-7:30, Hanover rooms in the Hyatt):
a) Curricular Change (implementing Standards)
b) Cooperative/Collaborative/Discovery Learning (implementinig
Standards)
c) Classroom Assessment Tips (implementing standards)
d) Computer-Based Instruction
e) Classroom Teaching Tips
The 5th topic is the result of feedback from some of you.
In addition to the Network and Sharing session, we will have two
meetings during the Atlanta conference:
I. Friday 11:30-12:30 in Hanover G
New leadership; our Position Statement (dept'l structure);
Subcommittee work planning
II. Saturday 10:30-11:30 in Chicago EF
Complete our planning for 1998 activities
There will be an opportunity at all three events to contribute public
material for our web site of resources (problems, activities, projects,
and other materials). Documents on disk are preferred (IBM or Mac
format, Word or WordPerfect or HTML are best); paper copies are okay.
{Make sure you contribute only those materials that can legally be
shared -- no copyrighted materials without a release.} If you are not
able to attend the conference but have material to contribute, attach
the document to an e-mail note to me at Jack_Rotman@lansing.cc.mi.us
sometime in the next few weeks.
In addition, there will be an open forum on position statements on
Thursday evening; our "Departmental Structure" statement is scheduled in
the fourth, and last, time period during this session. This will be the
primary opportunity for input; a short period will be allowed at the
Friday committee meeting for input. (The latest draft was printed in
the committee newsletter this fall; other copies will be available in
Atlanta.) The draft is also available on my www page:

Thanks for your attention; I hope to see many of you in Atlanta.
Jack
