Actually, I have not noticed much change in academic abilities --
regardless of the kind of K-12 math curriculum, or which decade (70's,
80's, or 90's). Students still have the same basic weaknesses about
fundamental concepts ...

I have noticed a change in social skills (less flexible) and a major change
in lifestyle (much more complex).

Personally, I don't think students are any 'weaker' today than 20 years
ago. Subjective data (perceptions) are prone to distortion from may
sources -- such as our own fatigue, discouragement, frustration, and
general burnout. I see more information about "us" in all of these
comments, than I see about our students.
