I am hoping that you can help me come up with some data about Adjunct
Faculty Observations. At Terra Community College, adjunct faculty members
are observed by chairs. These chairs wish to observe faculty on the following:
Method of Instruction
Lecture, Demonstration, Class Discussion, Handouts/Supplementary
Materials, Small Group Activities, Use of Visual Aids, Labs

Faculty are rated (using a Likert scale) for the following Characteristics:
clearly states objectives
has subject matter expertise
has communication skills
has human relation skills
actively engages learners in lesson
meets objectives
high level of time on task in classroom
stays focused
monitors student progress
gives clear directions to students
has immediate and consistent handling of student problems
possesses professional behavior and attitude
is punctual in starting class on time and utilizes time well
is not absent from class

What are your experiences with the above characteristics? Are there any of
these that you feel should be deleted? why? Would you add any additional
characteristics? Do you feel appropriate attire should be one of the
characteristics?

I would appreciate any response that you may have. Please send responses to
