We at MATC are piloting the use of COMPASS for math placement. We have some
tentative placement scores, based on our results and of those from other
similar colleges using COMPASS. COMPASS does not create computer-phobia for
the great majority of students. They already register via computer. They seem
to like that it is untimed. Asset is a different test than COMPASS. We were
(and still are) using Asset, but we have found little to no correlation between
Asset math scores and placement in math courses.
