Whoa now, It seems I have been placed way out on the end of the
spectrum. I might ask you, are you in favor of letting in every
single student who applies? What if they haven't graduated high
school? What if they are an extremely bright 6th grader who is really
good at filling out university applications? I don't think this is
what you are saying, but by the same token, my views are not as far
out as you seem to be making it. Students SHOULD have a way of
continuing their education - even if it is on a remedial level.
However, an institution should be allowed to say, "I'm sorry, you do
not meet our standards." All institutions do just that, to some
degree or another. And as I've said, there must be some middle ground
where these "not quite ready" students can "get ready." We just seem
to disagree where that middle ground is.
