Unfortunately, I do. LSCC allows "waivers." The student can petition and
ask for a waiver for any of several reasons. (I don't know all of them.) A
committee is formed consisting of people from counselling, admissions, and
faculty. If this committee grants the waiver, the student can graduate with
an AA without having met the minimum academic requirements. (This includes
but is not limited to math.)

Fortunately, to the best of my knowledge, very few students are granted the
waiver. None have been on the committees that I have been asked to serve.
The reasons the students have given for the committees that I have been on
have basically been "math anxiety." In actuality, the reason has been
(paraphrased) "I have completed all my requiremnts for my AA except for
math. I can't pass the math course(s). I don't need math for my major. I
should not be required to pass math. I should get a waiver."
