I have a friend who teaches at a large urban college who says that the
problem of your student who can't seem to pass Intermediate Algebra
(though her other grades are all 3.0-4.0) wouldn't be a problem at her
college. There are at least 3 or 4 instructors who structure their
Intermediate Algebra classes (as well as other classes) so that any
student who is willing to work hard WILL pass. Also, the word IS out
about who those instructors are.
Do others of you know instructors who have similar situations at their
schools?
