Re: [MATHEDCC] note cards

I used to let students use note cards in formula heavy courses such as trig
and cal II. These days I tell them which formulae to memorize and that I
will provide them with any others that might show up. This seems to impart
to students the value of having information at their fingertips without
putting so much emphasis on memorization that they sacrifice studying the
concepts.
