Indeed, some listservs have begun refusing attachments. Bandwith is an
important consideration, but the virus potential is the main thing. A
listserv
is a wonderful breeding ground for viruses. Even if you know the file is safe
because you created it yourself, others do not know this and must suspect
any unsolicited attachments out of self-preservation.

John's suggested alternatives are the way to go.
