Brian-

I doubt that MATHEDCC majordomo rejects attachments; I couldn't
find anything in the documentation about it. Since attachments are
really just long files added at the end of an email message,
majordomo probably just considers it as a long file. However, we
do have a limit of 40000 bytes for a message.

As Paul and John indicate in their messages below, I strongly
recommend against placing attachments on email messages to
MATHEDCC. As an administrator of Math Archives, I do not like to
see the system be bogged down in mailing out so many long
messages especially when most of the recipients do not want it. I
believe that some people are charged for the time for the
downloading of the message with the attachment even if they don't
know about the attachment. Frankly, I would not open any
attachment to an email message unless I knew that the person
who sent it to me was going to send it to me. Even then there are
risks since there are some viruses that remain hidden until an
email message is sent and the virus is then attached to the email
message without even the sender knowing about it!

We would be willing to provide space on the Math Archives for such
files for general distribution (as long as they are math related, etc.).
Then the author of the email message can just give the URL for
the files and then anyone who wants the file can download the file
from Math Archives.

Best,
Larry
