We have a max. of 45 students in our pre-algebra, beginning algebra, and
intermediate algebra courses this semester. All but a few sections are at 45.
We would LOVE to have 30-35 students per section.

In all of these classes we take a problem-centered approach to instruction in
which students are expected to explain and justify their thinking on
non-routine type questions.

One of our biggest problems is that the rooms on campus are not really large
enough for groups of this size. It is extremely difficult for the instructor
to move around the room during small group work.
