This year, I too have given two tests part of which are takehome. The
breakdown of the tests are 40% takehome, and 60% in class. The problems
are somewhat longer and I encourage students to work together. For the in
class parft of the test I include M/C and T/F questions in addition to
"essay" type questions. My classes have liked this very much and feel it
is fair. Also each test carries "extra" credit of no more that 7 points.
This extra credit is usually given between exams and not on the exam.

This next test which covers the subject "Introduction to Design of
Experiments" I am asking the class to make up 5 T/F and 5 M/C questions.
I will chose up to 12 of them for the inclass portion of the test. This
test will also cover the discrete and continuous probability density
functions.
