Hi Sallie and all,
You might want to look at my College Algebra online course. I have links to
some sites that may just help your students get started.
The URL is
http://instruction.elgin.cc.il.us/classes/mth112
Most of the course is passworded, but the links are not. If anyone is
interested, however, I can arrange a visitor's pass or you can come to
AMATYC and learn about putting College Algebra online.

I'm thinking of giving them a list of topics from which to choose. Then
have them search out the topic and write a paper of some sort citing the
references with the URLs used.
Has anyone done something like this? Could you share some insight? We
are not in a computer classroom, so they would have to do this work in a
lab. We charge our students a $25/quarter technology fee, so I'd love
for them to get something out of it in mathematics.
