Yes, I know. But we could have used more guidance from teachers
was my point. I regard it as a teacher's job to share these
conventions with students, whereas my step-daughter's high school
teachers (don't know about college) seemed pretty oblivious to
these new footnoting styles. We had to figure it all out
ourselves.
