NOMINATIONS FOR THE 1999 AMATYC TEACHING EXCELLENCE AWARD ARE SOLICITED!

The AMATYC Award for Teaching Excellence is given in odd-numbered years to
outstanding two-year college mathematics instructors from each of the eight
AMATYC regions. Nominees must be AMATYC members currently employed as
classroom instructors in a two-year college or other institution granting
only associate degrees and must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching
experience.

Good teaching is the main focus of the award. Criteria for selection
include instructional effectiveness and support of students, professional
involvement and professional development/renewal activities, interaction
with colleagues, and service to departments/division/college. In order to
make a regional award, there must be a minimum of three nominees from the
region. Each awardee receives a medallion from AMATYC and a $500 check
donated by Faculty Development Programs.

COMPLETE NOMINATION PACKETS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 1, 1998. For more
information about the award criteria, the nomination process, and
