I have been trying something along the lines of what Tony has been doing. I
do not collect homework until the day of the test. While they are taking the
test I am grading a pre-selected problem from each section. I grade them as
if they were test quesitons, they can get partial credit. They have had a
chance to get EVERY PROBLEM correct before the test. They must show their
work. The students like knowing that they do get credit for their work put in
to homework. I like it because I can see who is and who is not doing the
homework, and it's quick. I don't take their homework out the door, they pick
it up when their test is done.
