Engagement, synthesis, and synergy are at the heart of NCEDR. They constitute a major portion of NCEDR's value-added to the environmental decision-making arena because the results transcend any single research project. Through virtual and face-to-face interactions, NCEDR creates an atmosphere that benefits both researchers and practitioners.

Throughout the year, NCEDR hosts a variety of program activities. These programs are aimed at providing meeting places for people interested in environmental decision making, training future environmental decision makers, and bridging the gap that often exists between researchers and practitioners.

• The Intern Program brings students to the East Tennessee region for summer internships in government, industry, private, and non-profit organizations where they work on specialized projects related to a particular environmental issue.
