Dyer School has always had the support of parents and the entire community. Many parents call to see how they can become involved. This support is invaluable in the success of our school and students.. When children see their parents involved, they know that something very important is happening at Dyer School!
School begins
at 7:55 and dismisses at 2:57.
Lunch is
$1.50 per day or $7.50 per week. Please pay by the week.
Extra milk and juice
are $ .30.
Breakfast is $ .75
or $ .30 for reduced.
Required Immunizations for School Attendance
Vaccine
Number of Doses
| DTP-DTaP-DT-Td | 4 or more doses, one of which must be given on or after the 4th birthday. If starting series at age 7 or older, only 3 doses are required. |
| Polio (OPV/IPV) | 4 doses of OPV or IPV. If the 3rd dose was given on or after the 4th birthday, the 4th dose is not required. |
| MMR | 2 doses given on or after the 1st birthday. Required for entrance into grades K, 4, 8 and 12. |
| Chickenpox (required for 2002-2003) | Kindergarten students must have had the vaccine or the disease. |
| Hep B | 3 doses for entrance into Kindergarten |
| Hepatitis B Series (required for 7th graders in 2002-2003)
*This vaccine will be offered on the school campus at no charge--given by the school nurse. The parent/guardian will be required to sign a consent form that will be sent home with all 6th graders soon. The vaccine is a 3-part series: 1st Dose - given 2nd Dose - 1 month after 1st dose 3rd Dose - 6 months after 1st dose |
7th graders are required to have this series. It should be started early because it takes 6-7 months to complete. |
Student planners
will be provided for each student. Parents are asked to pay $3.00 for
the planner.
When students
return to school after being absent, they are required to bring a note
from their parent explaining the reason for the absence.
In the event
of bad weather please listen to a local radio or television station for
school closings. WWEZ 97.5 FM radio and WBBJ Channel 7 television will
provide you with the most recent closings.
Please refer
to the monthly newsletter and calendar so that you will know what is happening
at your child's school. OR, see Events on
this web site.
Please ask
students to bring their work home to be checked even if it has already
been completed at school.
Review your
child's attendance and respond accordingly.
Dyer School
participates in the General Mills Boxtops for Education program. Please
save your cereal box tops. Dyer School has already received $46.00
for just a few box tops.

like to volunteer some time at school, please call the office at 901-692-2444.
Possible volunteer activities at the present include the following:
Accelerated Reader Program - Parents are needed to help shop for the prizes.
We have the funds to purchase the prizes, but no time to shop. Also, parents
will be needed on the prize days to help distribute prizes. This is really
fun for students and volunteers!
