In one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s most famous speeches he said, "I have a dream my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Is it fair to judge a person by the way they look, the color of their skin, the way they dress? Of course not. This month our character word is Fairness. Fairness has many meanings. One of those meanings is treating all people with respect.
We have a special treat today in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Mrs. Angie's class has a song that goes along with our celebration of Read Across America Week.
